Conflict Prevention and Management
CDNH actively sustains a tracking system and database that stores, links and analyses variables related to communal violence. This is primarily a monitoring or “early warning” system that organizes and evaluates information on the precursors, drivers and consequences of violence. Crucially, the system identifies and develops effective reaction mechanisms for dealing with the threat of violence in real time. It also points to follow-up strategies for assessing responses and implementing mitigation measures. Ultimately, the data on violence symptoms and outcomes is expected to help social workers identify entry points and avenues for supporting long-term trust-building and mutual understanding among estranged communities.
